A Quiet Place of Faith
Nestled along the Niagara Escarpment in the historic community of Nassagaweya, St. John's Anglican Church has been a place of worship, prayer, and community for more than 180 years.
While much has changed since our parish was founded, our purpose remains the same: to gather in worship, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, and serve our neighbours with compassion and hope.

Finding Treasure in Tradition
At St. John's we worship using the 1962 Book of Common Prayer, one of the great treasures of Anglican Christianity.
Rather than each person praying alone, the Prayer Book allows the whole congregation to speak with one voice—to confess, praise, give thanks, and pray together.
Christians have found these prayers to be faithful companions for generations because they are deeply rooted in Scripture and shaped by centuries of worship.
We believe ancient words can still speak to modern hearts.

We gather each Sunday for worship that invites us to slow down, listen, and encounter God through prayer, Scripture, hymn singing, and Holy Communion.

A Sacred Place for Generations
A church doesn't become part of a community overnight.
For more than 180 years, people have come to St. John's to mark life's most meaningful moments—baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals, harvest thanksgivings, Christmas celebrations, and quiet Sunday mornings of prayer.
Generations have worshipped within these stone walls, and many now rest in the churchyard that surrounds them. Together they remind us that the Church is more than a building; it is a community of faith stretching across time.
Today, that story continues. We are grateful to welcome those who are writing the next chapter.
Meet Our Clergy
Rev. Stephen Blackmore
Priest-in-Charge
Rev. Stephen has served as Priest-in-Charge of St. John's for nearly 4 years and has been an Anglican priest for almost 20 years. He loves helping people encounter God's grace through worship, Scripture, and authentic community, believing the Church is at its best when everyone is welcomed and encouraged in their journey of faith. Stephen is married to Lauren, and together they have two young adult children. Alongside parish ministry, he also serves as a spiritual care provider and is a Registered Psychotherapist, bringing a listening ear, a pastor's heart, and a particular passion for helping neurodivergent individuals and families feel understood, valued, and at home.
Rev. Deacon Nina Page
Parish Deacon
Rev. Deacon Nina has faithfully served at St. John's for seven years and has been a deacon in the Anglican Church for nearly fourteen years. She is known for her warm pastoral heart, thoughtful preaching, and meaningful leadership in worship, helping others experience God's love and welcome. Nina is married to John, and together they have two sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Alongside parish ministry, she serves as a Spiritual Care Provider, Registered Psychotherapist, and chaplain. She is also an advocate for inclusion through her work with Milton Pride and, with John, enjoys rescuing Labrador Retrievers.
